Night in Museums with BAU/WCHU

within the Night in Museums and educational program Glance at VDNKh Sergey Shanovich had a talk on influence of the soviet architectural avant-garde and constructivism on Zaha Hadid' work. He also presented his documentary BAU/WCHU.

Many artists are inspired by these two schools, and Sergey’s works in Shandesign.pro are not an exception. «Talking about influence of constructivism on studios work, in reality - it’s huge. Constructivists’ approach to the creation of any art-object always appealed to me. There were no boarders for them, no frames. Even if they were — the purpose was only to break free from limitations», Sergey says in his interview to Documentary Film and Television Guild

Value of this two schools is underestimated in Russia as well as worldwide. It’s unknown for the general public. Sergey claims: «Bauhaus or WCHUTEMAS are not popular, don’t kid yourself. When someone says something about Bauhaus existence they generally do not know anything, generally it is just a figure of speech. All the claims that Western constructivists’ schools do exist, or that this subject is in-demand are profanations. There is no knowledge of it, that is why first of all this movie is dedicated to inform new generation what is it. Now there is nothing except for the dusty archives».

However, role of this two schools is priceless, modern design would be different without it. Sergey Shanovich with Shandesign.pro is making BAU/WCHU, documentary of two hours, where international group of authors and researchers from all over the world would tell the story of the formation and mutual influence of this unique German and USSR avant-garde schools.
